+|Where curative magics are to defend and heal, a Black Mage has learned his craft for one reason.  To bring harm.  Some targets can be tougher than others, and as such some Mages have learned how to assess their targets, finding the chinks in their magical defenses at the cost of some of their own energy.  A properly focused Black Mage can bring more harm on the battlefield with nothing more than simple preparation.
